圓葉竹柏繼承野生品種的極佳耐陰性，葉片圓潤油亮，平行葉脈恰似竹葉，外型充滿吉祥的寓意，因此成為高人氣的送禮盆栽。
竹柏是羅漢松科，樹幹的生長非常緩慢。摘除頂芽後容易生成分枝，讓樹木看起來更茂盛，是新手也能輕鬆養護的品種。
